Orthodontic Treatment

It is the treatment process to straighten teeth and jaws and bring them into proper alignment. This treatment is generally applied for conditions such as tooth irregularity, crowding, jaw discrepancies or jaw position disorders. Orthodontic treatment is a process in which various appliances (e.g. braces, brackets, clear plates) are used to move the teeth and place them in the appropriate position. The duration of treatment may vary from person to person and depending on the situation, but can usually last from several months to several years. Its aim is to ensure that the patient achieves a healthier bite, properly aligned teeth and an aesthetic smile. Orthodontic treatment types may vary depending on the patient's needs, condition and preferences. However, generally used orthodontic treatment methods are as follows:

  • Traditional Metal Brackets:
  • Transparent Brackets:
  • Transparent Plates (Aligner Systems)

It is performed using metal brackets glued to the front surface of the teeth and wires connecting them. This treatment method is an effective option to correct crowding and other dental irregularities.

As an alternative to metal brackets, transparent or colorless brackets that are glued to the front surface of the teeth are used. They offer a more aesthetic appearance.

In this system, specially prepared transparent aligners are placed on the teeth at regular intervals and used for a certain period of time. Plates allow teeth to move slowly and help correct crookedness.

4. Lingual Brackets: These brackets are bonded to the back surface of the teeth so they are not visible from the outside. It is an ideal option for patients with aesthetic concerns.

5. Orthodontic Appliances: In some cases, removable appliances can be used instead of fixed brackets. These appliances can be used to support or correct jaw development, especially in children and adolescents. Each treatment method has different advantages depending on the patient's condition and preferences. It is important to consult with an orthodontist to determine the appropriate treatment option.
